Phnom Penh, September 13, 2024 – The Ministry of Interior has successfully distributed over 9,000 free Cambodian identity cards to citizens nationwide in just one week, from September 1 to 7, 2024. Deputy Spokesman for the Ministry, Dr. Touch Sokhak, confirmed this achievement.

Dr. Sokhak explained that the issuance of these cards is an ongoing process, facilitated by efficient identification officers across the country. Both fixed locations and mobile units have been deployed to ensure widespread accessibility and expedite the card distribution process.

In addition to identity cards, the Ministry of Interior has provided over 20,000 identification services during the same period. These services include passports, residence books, family books, and travel documents.

Prime Minister Hun Sen has emphasized the importance of improving the quality of services provided to citizens. He has directed the General Department of Identification to explore innovative approaches, such as one-stop-shop services, to enhance efficiency and convenience for the public.
